Waves of Gravity

a cosmic raga odYssey

Waves of Gravity, is a cosmic raga odyssey. This solo multi-media performance tells the story of Neel Murgai's personal journey of healing in sound and music, featuring sitar, overtone singing, psychedelic drones, primal rhythms, live looping and video projections. The creative team includes Neel Murgai along with Project Y Theater Company director, Michole Biancosino, and video designer/artist, Seema Lisa Pandya.

The show explores a poetic notion of the gravity of the moment, where our experience of time slows down with heavy moments or through focused sound and attention. Neel draws on funny, sad and serious personal stories and his research into the properties of sound, entrainment, gravity, relativity and more to create a universal human narrative. 

Audio and video loops are created live and mixed with audio reactive effects, animations, and storytelling. Imagery includes animations of sculptural and drawing works by Seema Pandya, merged with cinematic and NASA footage. The video content completes the immersive sound and visual healing experience as it is projected on multiple surfaces.
